YOUTH HOSPITALITY-ENTRY SKILLS LEVEL 2
Aims and objectives
This programme is suited to young people wishing to gain employment in the vast array of jobs in the hospitality industry. The course provides the base knowledge in the key skills required by this industry and will provide you with base skills, appropriate to food handling and hygiene skills, customer service, cash handling and communication skills along with qualifications necessary for employment in this sector.
All training is undertaken in a practical 'hands on' environment within FutureCOL's own training kitchen, café and restaurant with in-house functions and café service. Theory components of this programme are delivered featuring small class numbers in our well resourced facility incorporating visits to local industry suppliers and tourism venues.
Open Entry – course enrolment can be between Feb – Dec 2011 when a place becomes available.

Entry criteria
Youth Training Government Funded Programme (TEC)
To be eligible for Youth Training learners must usually be under 18 years and have no or low qualifications, or aged 18 years or over and have left school in the last 6 months with low qualifications. Exceptions are possible - please check eligibility. Learners will need to provide some documents to verify their eligibility.

Food Hygiene and Health and Safety
Safe food handling practices, correct cleaning products for various industry related equipment and presentation of food.
Hospitality Industry
Customer service, counter food service, cutlery, crockery and glassware, beverage service, cash handling, communication, tourism and travel trends, field trips
Employment Skills
Interpersonal communications, work experience as well as onsite experience in FutureCOL's own café, employment expectations, employment legislation, job search
Personal Development
Literacy and numeracy, life skills – flatting and budgeting, decision making, future career planning, seeking part-time employment while studying
