SYSTEMS ENGINEERING DIPLOMA LEVEL 5/6
Aims and objectives
To provide students with an opportunity to develop practical technical computing skills in computer hardware and peripheral maintenance, using an extensive range of operating systems. Networking support, troubleshooting, installation and repair of LANS and User support delivered in a practical "hands on" environment.
This three module programme covers an extensive range of technical and software skills. Individual full-time modules can be taken independently or through a fast track "Crash Course" option.
Core Hardware
This module covers the development of core technical computing skills in computer hardware and peripheral maintenance along with the conceptual knowledge of the Operating System. This module can be studied independently. The duration is four/two months at which time students may exit with a local certificate from The College of Future Learning.
Operating Systems Technologies
This module develops core technical software operating systems skills. This extends from troubleshooting through to single and multi user operating systems in relation to hardware control. The Hardware module must be completed prior to this module. The duration is four/two months which time students may exit with a local certificate from The College of Future Learning.
Networking Essentials
This module develops skills in core networking as used in multiple environments. This includes diagnostics, networking topologies and protocols, networking devices and security. Both Hardware and Software modules must be completed prior to this module. The duration is two/six months at which time students may exit with a National Diploma in Computing Level 5.
