INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY ESSENTIALS LEVEL 2

Aims and objectives

This programme is suited to people seeking employment within administration or computer related employment. Technological advances have changed many aspects of the work place with the computer being at the centre of the majority of activities. The term 'office' is becoming increasingly flexible and this industry demands a wide range of versatile skills to compete effectively in this market. This programme helps develop the base level of skills and the opportunity to gain employment.



Entry criteria
Youth Training Government Funded Programme (TEC) To be eligible for Youth Training learners must usually be under 18 years and have no or low qualifications. No formal academic qualifications are necessary; however an academic ability to complete the course will be required. A working knowledge of computer operations is helpful although not essential. A literacy and numeracy test is available to test your ability to complete the course content.

Identifying computer components, peripherals, ergonomics, computer operating systems, file management, software applications, text processing, desktop publishing, spreadsheets, databases, graphics and design, internet and email, computer and their uses in society, local area networks, field trips

Employment Skills
Cash handling, customer service, interpersonal communications, food hygiene, work experience, employment expectations, employment legislation, health and safety

Personal Development
Literacy and numeracy, life skills – flatting and budgeting, drug and alcohol education, sexual health, guest speakers
