TRADES TRAINING (JOINERY & CABINETRY COURSE ON-HOLD)
Aims and objectives
The aim of this programme is for younger students to gain industry foundation skills in the trades strands Painting and Decorating. This course has been designed as a pathway for the student to gain a Modern Apprenticeship in the trades. At the core of this study, students will learn industry relevant maths to ensure each student has the necessary mathematical ability for the completion of an Apprenticeship.
Painting and Decorating students work towards gaining the Apprenticeship First Stage Block course unit standards and will then go on to complete the Second Stage Block units within industry as a Modern Apprentice and the optional Stage Three.
Work experience with industry partners plays a strong part in the development of these students and will comprise of up to 20% of course content.

Entry criteria
Youth Training Government Funded Programme (TEC)
To be eligible for Youth Training learners must usually be under 18 years and have no or low qualifications. No formal academic qualifications are necessary; however an academic ability to complete the course will be required. A working knowledge of computer operations is helpful although not essential. A literacy and numeracy test is available to test your ability to complete the course content.
